Basically what we do in valvulopasty is depending on which valve we want to dilute the access is either through Trans arterial or Trans Venus root. For example if we want to dilute the mitral valve so we access the femoral vain in the groin and then do transept puncture through the Venus route and gain access to the left side of heart, then we dilute valve with valvuloplasty balloon. For the aortic valve we take trans-arterial access from the groin, cross the valve and dilute the valve with special balloon. Now Valvuloplasty has to be differentiated from angioplasty, angioplasty is basically done to the arteries which supply blood to the heart called primary arteries. Valvuloplasty is done to the valves which are there within the heart.
