The first wave hits at about 1:40. Before and after shows, Chimelong Spaceship's orcas almost always have access to waves that go up to 10.5 ft high! This is one of my favorite orca enrichment videos I've ever taken! See below for highlights: While this is not the first facility to have a wave machine for marine animals (examples being the Kelp Forest at Monterey Bay Aquarium and Key West Dolphin Cove at SeaWorld Orlando), Chimelong Spaceship is the first to do it for orcas. It is also by far the most powerful wave machine I've seen and a record setter for the tallest indoor artificial wave. Orcas tend to appreciate larger and more powerful enrichment items more, so even though wild orcas don't surf often, these five males were all over these waves!
