We had just finished hot air ballooning hours ago before deciding to hire an e-bike for exploring Bagan Myanmar :-) E-bikes can be found all over Bagan and is the common form of transport around Bagan. You'll see signs for them everywhere. They cost around 7,000 Kyats ($7 AUD) per day and I highly recommend hiring them. During our ride toward Old Bagan, we stopped by a small market outside of the Shwe San Daw Pagoda (which was closed). Robyn had never tried a sugar cane juice before! If you ever come to Bagan, make sure you try one as they only cost 1,000 Kyats ($1 AUD) and there is no added sugar! Just crushed sugar cane :-) We continue riding on our E-bike before stumbling into hundreds of puppets hanging from trees on the side of the road. It was so unusual as I never knew just how obsessed the Burmese are, and how deeply rooted, puppets and puppet shows are in their culture. I do a quick flashback to the moment Robyn and I met on the ocean swings in Siquijor, Philippines. We met in the most beautiful setting on the 27th April 2018. If you want to watch the vlog of the moment we met, check this out: • THE BAHAMAS OF THE PHILIPPINES (SWINGS IN ... After buying an umbrella from the puppet vendor on the side of the road, he escorts us to the nearest Pagoda to watch the sunset. As mentioned in previous videos, most popular Pagodas have now been closed off to the public (as of August 2018). I suggest asking a local to take you to a Pagoda (just tip them a few thousand Kyats) because there are thousands of Pagodas and not all of them have been closed off. After this day of adventures, we go to a small family operated restaurant (canteen?) to order traditional Burmese food. This will be covered in a separate vlog. Let me know if you are planning an adventure of a lifetime to Myanmar! This place is truly magnificent and highly recommend spending 1-2 weeks here, especially in Bagan.
