Lula's car surrounded by supporters STORYLINE: Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, one of the remaining two contenders for the second round of the presidential election, campaigned Friday in Guarulhos, in São Paulo's metropolitan area. Like Thursday, he campaigned with his running mate Geraldo Alckmin, the former state governor, and São Paulo governor candidate Fernando Haddad, greeting residents and supporters from the back of a truck. "We had ended hunger in that country and hunger returned. We had ended absolute misery and it came back," said the former president. He also reasserted being against abortion, as a father of five and grandfather to eight, saying that it is a personal matter for women, and for congress to legislate instead of presidents to make that decision. Lula da Silva, a former president, had 42.8% of votes in the city, behind 45.4% his contender and incumbent president Jair Bolsonaro. The leftist Workers' Party candidate came close to an outright victory on Sunday, receiving over 48% of the votes. Far-right Bolsonaro got 43%. Since the election, the two men have been on a hunt for support across Brazil and the political spectrum.
