@ThermaltakeAustralia #thermaltake #keyboard #review https://www.thermaltake.com.au/argent... The Thermaltake Argent K5 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a very interesting keyboard to review. There is lots to love but also lots of missed opportunities by Thermaltake and I really hope that they hear what I’m saying because they have everything going for them but are sincerely lacking in one key area but more on that later. This keyboard from Thermaltake retails for $370 dollars here in Australia and is a full sized mechanical keyboard with genuine cherry mx switches, a total weight of 1.45kg and a length of 465mm. It’s a wired USB keyboard with USB and Audio pass through, an aluminum top plate, plastic bottom, magnetic leather wrist rest with plenty of RGB on the topside and also an RGB strip around the bottom. The volume dial on the right feels really solid and is very very nice to use and the overall typing experience on this keyboard is very good, everything feels really solid, the keys are nice and stable, very little wobble, fonts are easy to read and all characters on the number row and function row are backlit as well. Keycaps can be removed and they do include a nice keycap removal tool plus some extra red keycaps for the fps side of the keyboard but it doesn’t look like the keys themselves are removable which would’ve been nice so that you could put your own cherry mx reds in for example on certain parts of the keyboard. Everything in terms of lighting and macros can be changed and modified without the need of software which after quickly reading the user manual wasn’t too hard at all to do and makes a lot of sense and you can also do this with the Thermaltake software as well so you can sync it with other Thermaltake devices if you wish but a few things I really disliked about the software was the UI is simple and clean but also maybe too simple, almost like they just wanted to make the easiest possible program to advertise that they at least did have a software and also you can’t run the software and then also use the function keys for adjusting, so for example if I’m in a game and the software is running, and I want to just simply turn the brightness down a bit, the brightness key just does not work at all so I would have to alt-tab out and use the software to do this. Very FRUSTRATING! And this goes for all the other keys that will control lighting or function keys for profiles. A very big oversight in my opinion. If I was to judge the keyboard as a device only and forget the software I’d score it 9/10 Factoring in the software though and also the price of the keyboard being at the top end price range for premium keyboards, It’s more like a 6 out of 10. So in my opinion, buy this keyboard for the keyboard alone and don’t use the software but for $370 is it the best option for you? Are there better options out there? Well yes but also it’s down to your personal taste. I personally won’t be daily driving this keyboard and ill be going back to my G915 Wireless but I know part of me will miss this keyboard as well as felt like the most solid keyboard typing experience I’ve had in such a long time.
