MÜRREN SWITZERLAND 🇨🇭 Snow & Sun in most beautiful mountain village / Stroll in Region Jungfrau 4K

Mürren, known locally as Mirren, is a village in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. It is traffic-free and lies 1,650 m above sea level. Its neighbouring village of Gimmelwald, which is also traffic-free, lies 2.3 kilometres to the south. From Mürren you have a good view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The village is a good starting point for hikes in summer and a well-developed winter sports area with the steepest ski slope in the region. 429 residents live here; the hotel capacity is 2,000 beds. The Schilthorn is also well-known with its revolving restaurant Piz Gloria, where the Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service was filmed. Like Lauterbrunnen, Mürren was settled from the Valais and was first documented in 1257 as Muren. In 1345 it was called Murn. The Barons of Wädenswil owned rights to the land and people here. In 1275 the whole thing fell to Peter von Thurn and then to the Interlaken monastery. Mürren was the venue for the Alpine Ski World Championships in 1931 and 1935. The longest downhill ski race in the world for amateurs, the International Inferno Race, takes place in Mürren every winter. Every year in August Mürren is also the venue for the famous Inferno Triathlon, which ends on the Schilthorn. Mürren can only be reached by public transport, on foot or by bike, from Lauterbrunnen with the Lauterbrunnen-Mürren mountain railway (BLM) or from Stechelberg with the LSMS cable car. The valley station of the Allmendhubelbahn (SMA) is also in Mürren. From 1894 to 1930 the Mürren horse-drawn tram transported hotel guests between the BLM station and the "Grand Hotel and Kurhaus". Mürren at the foot of the Schilthorn is considered one of the most beautiful mountain villages in Switzerland.
