One place almost everyone recognizes when driving through West Virginia is Tamarack—the state’s artisan hub located right off the WV Turnpike (yes, the one where you pay $4.50 three times in about 20 minutes 😅). But Tamarack is so much more than a beautiful building or a state-of-the-art rest stop. Inside, you’ll find an incredible collection of locally made West Virginia art and goods—pottery, jewelry, clothing, gourmet foods, beer, wine, glassware, and so much more, all created by talented WV artisans. One of my favorite features is the onsite restaurant, serving up delicious entrées, sandwiches, and desserts in a welcoming space that’s perfect for stretching your legs and enjoying something beautiful after time on the road. There’s also a grab-and-go area stocked with amazing cookies, hand-dipped ice cream, and plenty of sweet treats. Pets are welcome, too! 🐾 Take a look at my new video and decide if Tamarack deserves a spot on your next West Virginia trip—or at least a planned stop as you drive one of the busiest north–south routes through the state.
