Liszt - La Cloche Sonne (S. 238)

"La Cloche Sonne" is Franz Liszt's arrangement of an old French song known as "The Tolling Bell". It was composed around 1850 during his early Weimar years. Characterized by open-fifth bell imitations, this piece is highly reminiscent of his later, more minimalist compositions. I myself have previous mistaken the it as being "late Liszt". However, it is not technically a late work, despite its sparse, atmospheric, and impressionistic style.
