Solace - A Mexican Serenade by Scott Joplin. Arranged for guitar by Merlin Smith. "Perhaps one of Joplin's best works, 'Solace' is a very unique composition in that Joplin moves away from the typical Ragtime bass pattern and opts for a habanera rhythm. I initially arranged the second movement of the piece first as I wasn't aware of the entire composition. It was later that I listened to it in it's entirety that I went back and arranged the first two sections. The second movement I later discovered had been arranged by John Knowles and Richard Smith so I lifted a few ideas from both for my own arrangement."
