Honoring the Past, Working for the Future: Rochester Black Journalists Award Winning Producer Richard J. McCollough examines how black journalists in Rochester, NY developed over the decades and formed a strong alliance in the shadow of their mentor Frederick Douglass. This film is in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Rochester Association of Black Journalists chapter in 2024. It is the first documentary film that takes a look at the evolution of black journalists and media personalities in Rochester, New York from Frederick Douglass in the 19th century to the present day 21st century. The fight for justice, equality and fairness continues.
