Myth Buster #42 - We hear this poor piece of advice on bunker technique so often! ‘Hit the sand 1 inch before the golf ball.’ Do you know how hard that is to do? Even if you manage it, you’ll probably still make contact with the golf ball and send it sailing over the green. How far behind the ball, should you enter the sand? Even 2 inches is too close. We want to hear the sand wedge hit the sand, not hit the golf ball! Glen Haynes shows you what you should be focusing on when playing from a greenside sand trap. He demonstrates a safer, more consistent method for escaping from the sand. He also shows you a simple bunker drill, which will help you splash the sand in the right place. When playing bunkers shots, you should be striving for a technique which gives you a good margin of error. If you can splash the sand, so that the golf ball is positioned in the middle of your divot, then the sand wedge will be at its lowest point when it passes (hopefully) under the ball. This reduces the chance of the wedge making contact with the golf ball……….Sayonara! #mythbusters #bunkers #sandtraps Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to AUSSIE GOLF PROS now: https://youtube.com/AussieGolfPros?su... ~~~~~~~~~~~ LEARN HOW TO ~~~~~~~~~~~ ▶️ Stop Topping Woods ~ • STOP TOPPING FAIRWAY WOODS - 3 Steps to Hi... ▶️ Hit Tiger Woods’ Stinger ~ • Punch Shot vs Knockdown Shot vs Tiger Wood... ▶️ Read Greens Better ~ • Putting - Green Reading (Why You Miss On T... ▶️ Stop Chunking Pitches ~ • STOP Chunking Pitch Shots - Golf Pitch fro... ▶️ SlingShot Golf Swing ~ • The SlingShot Golf Swing - Plane Facts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FREE GOLF TRAINING PROGRAMS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ▶️ 5 Part Video Coaching Series ~ https://aussiegolfpros.com/5-part-vid... 🧠 7 Mental Game Fundamentals ~ https://aussiegolfpros.com/mental-gam... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ABOUT AUSSIE GOLF PROS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Steve Gannon and Glen Haynes created Aussie Golf Pros to provide a learning platform for golfers of all levels. Rather than try to ‘change’ your swing, their goal is to help You Be The Best Golfer You Can Be! Skill Development vs Technical Changes Although technique is an important factor in improving a golfer’s performance, Skill Development is largely neglected in golf coaching today. Skill is something that can be tangibly improved with proper understanding of the golf impact laws and effective practice towards improved performance. External Focus of Attention Most golf teaching involves an internal focus. Common suggestions might include increased hip turn, a still head or improved hand path. These are all factors of the golf swing, which many golfers and teachers consider important. However, as they are focused internally, on movements of the body, golfers find changes extremely difficult to process. Enter the world of External Focus of Attention. This means that instead of focusing on body parts, a golfer can and should focus more on the target, the ball, the clubhead - objects which are external to the body. The sciences involving Motor Skill Learning have proven that by employing an External Focus of Attention, sports men and women learn new moves more quickly, retain changes more readily and can perform better under pressure. All of the Aussie Golf Pros coaching, drills and advice for clients and viewers, involve an External Focus of Attention and the results can be astonishing!
