Tools & Equipment • Glass Enclosure – tank or glass vase • Weighted Flower Frog – https://amzn.to/43LFvOZ • Skinny plastic droppers - https://amzn.to/4236IeK • Acrylic Paint – many colors • Camera, Tripod, and a lens that allows you to get close to the glass enclosure Setup • Fill enclosure with fresh water • Eliminate reflections, wear dark clothes, close any windows in the background, move bright objects out of the background • Wipe down the outside of the enclose to ensure no water marks • Place something dark under and behind your enclose, this will allow for your subject to be the main focus • Position flower in flower frog, place in tank close to the glass • Play with your light, I prefer using side light setting my tank near a window and shoot in the afternoon when the sunlight is indirect For a more dramatic scene, use your phone flashlight on the opposite side of the tank • Setup up camera and settings, find focus • Use interval timer – example: 25 images every 3 seconds • Determine which paint colors you will use with your subject • Pour paint into cups, might need to add water to water down the paint. I prefer a consistency of whole milk Create art! • Start the interval timer • Take the color syringe and slowly squeeze the paint on the flower petals • Allow a few seconds for the paint to move throughout your subject • Try another color and place the syringe behind your subject and slow squeeze the paint allowing the paint to come through your subject • Play, Experiment, Take your time, Try again and again! • I learn something new every time I create with submerged flowers!
