‘Harisa’ is in great demand during winters in Kashmir valley

Amid the harsh winter season, a Kashmiri meat delicacy ‘Harisa’ is in high demand in the valley. It is made with a mixture of Kashmiri Saffron, aromatic spices, rice, meat and salts. The dish is made in a big earthen pot which is usually known as ‘Mat’. It contains high calories and protein content. Harisa takes 17 to 18 hours to make a really perfect dish. Firstly, the makers use rice and mix it with masala and spices. Then, meat is added in the dish and mixed with all ingredients into it. Harisa dish gets digested easily. The centuries-old delicious and flavourful Harisa has a great demand in Kashmir valley these days. There is a lot of crowd for Harisa on a daily basis from early morning. Many people are fond of Harisa dish as it is used to keep the body warm in winter.
