In February 2021 we visited Islamorada in the Florida Keys for a day on the water. This laid back group of six islands is located directly in between Miami and Key West. Islamorada is recognized as the “Fishing Capital of the World” for its sheer number of anglers as well as numerous international fishing records. It is for this reason, we chose a fishing tour at the famous Robbie’s Marina. Robbie’s is a tourist destination and has a large party boat that they were running at partial capacity. We were hoping the larger boat size would result in smoother sailing for us. We are not on the water much, so were a little concerned about sea sickness and nausea during the trip. This video may help you better understand about the potential of getting sick on a fishing boat. Robbie’s is a tourist destination for good reason. While it charters fishing trips, you can also rent kayaks, go snorkeling, feed the giant tarpon, shop for souvenirs or grab a bite to eat at their award winning restaurant. The Beach Cafe is an oceanside restaurant with beautiful waterfront views. While it’s food is spot-on delicious, the Miami New Times claimed it as a top spot for the region’s Key Lime Pie. They serve up a traditional pie with a whipped and torched French meringue. The planets have definitely aligned when you eat the best Key Lime Pie right in the Florida Keys!
