The Washington coast has some of the most remote and rugged beaches you are likely to find anywhere. This video takes you from the popular Rialto Beach to the seldom visited but beautiful Kayostla Beach, arguably the most remote and difficult to reach beach in Washington. This dangerous coastline has seen many shipwrecks, as there are hundreds of reefs just below the surface that extend miles offshore. The Norwegian and Chilean Memorials commemorate two of these shipwrecks. Here the ocean makes the rules and only allows passage during low tides and only to those able to negotiate slippery seaweed covered boulders and scramble crumbling overland slopes. These beaches give testament to the raw and powerful forces of nature.
