We set ourselves a challenge of running the three best hikes on the Road to Hana in a single day. Between the Black Sand Beach, the bamboo forest Pipiwai Trail (and the nearby Ohe'o Gulch/Seven Sacred Pools) and a secret waterfall hike recommended by a local, we spent a spectacular ten miles out exploring the Road to Hana waterfalls, beaches, and forests. Added bonus of trail running : avoiding all the major crowds that are typical along most of the Road to Hana stops.
