Hsing-I Tiger Application: Spine Tracking Technique This video demonstrates one of three Hsing-I (Xingyiquan) "Tiger" style applications, presented by Master John Bracy for an upcoming seminar. This skillset focuses on directing power into the opponent's upper body to track along the curve of their spine, causing them to fall forward as their lower body shoots backward. Important Note: The "light touch" control demonstrated here is not magic—it's a specialty of the classic internal martial arts (Taiji, Ba Gua, and Xingyi) that evolved on China's northern plain since the late 1800s. Many qualified instructors of these arts understand and practice this method. Learning This Skill: If you want to develop this ability, seek qualified guidance from an instructor who can demonstrate the skill on you personally. This level of mastery typically takes years—often decades—to achieve. That said, If you still choose to practice independently, PLEASE exercise extreme caution with your training partner. Do not bang away on the poor assistant. Observe that, as shown in the video, only very light contact is used and no one should be injured. Do not use excessive force that might harm someone. New Book & Video Series: Training in "soft power" and internal martial arts is covered in John Bracy's new book and video series.
