NEW Caddx Ascent HD Video System RANGE TEST | Caddx Protos Range Test | 5.8GHz HD Video System

In this video I try to show you how large the range of the Caddx Ascent HD video transmission system of the Caddx Protos FPV drone is. The safe range of the Caddx Ascent HD video transmission system for a beginner pilot is in my opinion about 50 meters radius in front of the pilot at 25 milliwatt transmission power and about 100 meters radius in front of the pilot at 100 milliwatt transmission power on an open field without obstacles. As a beginner I recommend not flying higher than 50 meters. The maximum range of the Caddx Ascent HD video system under optimal conditions on an open field and directly in front of the pilot with the video goggles and the directional antennas inside pointed straight at the field is about 100m with 25mw and about 200m with 100mw. However, as I said, I would not recommend flying that far away. The video range decreases very quickly if the video goggles with the directional antennas are not well aligned or if objects such as trees and bushes are between you and the Caddx Protos drone as you can clearly see in this video. In short summary. The range of the Caddx Protos with its Caddx Ascent HD video transmission system is similar to analog video systems in direct comparison at the same transmission power, meaning with 25 milliwatt or 100 milliwatt transmission power. At least that’s how it feels to me. Definitely not better. The image is a bit better than with analog video systems. Fine details such as branches of trees are easier to see. However, the image quality of the Caddx Ascent HD video transmission system is definitely not at DJI level. And the latency is much higher than with analog video systems and not suitable for racing and fast flying. For smooth flying the latency is sufficient. The latency increases the further away you fly with the Caddx Protos drone. Overall, I can say that the Caddx Ascent HD video transmission system is sufficient for beginner pilots in range, video quality and latency. Of course, it can always be better, but I would say it is sufficient and roughly appropriate for the price. I think for some it is the right option and for others not. And I think the most important thing is therefore that you inform yourself well before buying and that you know what you want.
