The Omega Seamaster 300M is relatively new in the grand scheme of dive watches without the long history of the Rolex Submariner or many other Seiko divers like the MM300, Tuna, and Turtle/ Captain Willard. Yet the Seamaster 300M has carved out a place of its own in history as the “James Bond Watch.” Ever since its introduction in 1995, it's been a popular choice amongst dive watch fans, and the latest version, released in 2018, has been the most popular yet. And with good reason. I originally bought the new 42mm Seamaster 300M in 2018 and I fell in love right away. But for some reason I ended up selling it during a consolidation phase late 2019. Earlier this year I was able to spend some time with my cousin’s SMP and it solidified my need to rebuy one at some point. Now finally after 4 years, I rebought a Seamaster 300M and I am ecstatic. But which one did I buy considering how much I obsessed over the incredible black dial variant?
