The Keverbaan is a steel roller coaster in the Belgian animal and amusement park Bellewaerde. It is a Tivoli large roller coaster. The track was purchased by the park in 1981 and built by the German firm Zierer. The designer is Werner Stengel . Before that, the Keverbaan was located in the German Gröverland in Gadenstedt, Lower Saxony , Germany . He made his rounds here as "Marienkäferbahn" between 1978 and 1980. The Keverbaan will run for the last time on November 6, 2022. It will then be demolished to make way for a new water attraction, which will be ready in the spring of 2024. The track is 360 meters long. Typical for the Keverbaan is that the train always makes two trips, regardless of the crowds in the park. After the lifting , which is done by means of a tire system, the track is 8 meters high. There is one train with 20 wagons in which two people can sit next to each other, good for a capacity of 40 people per journey. The orbit makes no inversions . A ride takes about three minutes and the track reaches a maximum speed of 36 kilometers per hour. Visitors with a length of 120 centimeters or more are allowed to ride the roller coaster independently. Children between 90 and 120 centimeters must be accompanied by an adult. The last season of the more than 40-year-old Keverbaan has started. The attraction will be replaced by a new unique water attraction, which will open in the spring of 2024. Visitors who want to experience one last nostalgic ride on the iconic 'Beetles' can visit Bellewaerde Park all summer long. However, the Keverbaan will make way for a new unique water attraction. The opening of this new attraction is planned for the spring of 2024. In order to meet this timing, the demolition works of the Keverbaan and some buildings in the Far West zone should already start this winter. “We know that the Keverbaan is a popular attraction. However, we will worthily replace it with a new iconic attraction. A real world first, about which more details will be communicated later,” says Stefaan Lemey, general manager of Bellewaerde. The summer holiday is the starting signal for experiencing a last ride on the Keverbaan. Bellewaerde Park calls on everyone to reminisce about the attraction together. Those who have not yet experienced the attraction, or who want to experience it again, can do so this season. The very last ride will take place on Sunday 6 November at 6 pm in Bellewaerde Park. Those who want to be sure can participate in the Facebook competition, which will be launched from June 30. Everyone can upload a nice old or recent photo of themselves at the Keverbaan. The four participants who can collect the most votes by the end of the summer will win tickets for the very last ride on the Keverbaan.
