Railroading From My Office in Bakersfield

Most offices are in relatively quiet areas or are, at least, insulated from outside noise. Not mine! My office is in a 143 year old building situated right next to two mainlines, two yard tracks and a crossing. Did I mention it's also a crew change station? Yeah, they're pulling in and out all day! I love the old depot and will be doing a piece on it soon but boy is it a noisy place! It is un-reinforced masonry (mostly brick) covered in stucco and completely un-insulated. No temperature or noise protection at all. So, come hang out for a few hours at the old Southern Pacific depot ticket office (which is what my office once was) and check out the sights and sounds of railroading from my office!
