031725 MEMORY LN HOUSE FIRE

Just after 2 pm a house fire was reported on Memory Lane in the North Woods Subdivision in Splendora. The first East Montgomery County Fire units on the scene reported a modified doublewide mobile home with heavy fire. With no water supply, additional tankers were called in from EMC Fire, Cleveland, Plum Grove, Caney Creek, Porter, and North Montgomery County Fire Department. Tankers had to travel several miles for water. With high winds fanning the flames and partial structural collapse firefighters were ordered out of the structure and to fight the fire from the outside. Along with fighting the blaze firefighters were having to protect a neighboring house. With heat, and smoke taking its toll three additional engines were requested for manpower. Water to fight the blaze was not the only shortage, each truck carried coolers of drinking water. Firefighters quickly depleted that supply. Montgomery County Emergency Management was notified and responded with a rehab unit and additional ice and drinking water. Precinct 4 Deputies made a run to get additional drinking water and several neighbors began carrying drinking water to the firefighters. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office will investigate the blaze. With additional high winds expected a red flag warning for Montgomery County remains in effect until 10 pm.
