Most soccer practices don’t fail because the drills are bad. They fail because players stop enjoying them. When players don’t have fun at training, they disconnect from their teammates, stop training on their own, and eventually lose interest in improving. In this video, I break down how I make practices fun without losing focus — and five specific ways I make sure my players are enjoying training sessions while still developing as players. I also show two training games I use regularly, including: A fun, chaotic competitive game called Smash Ball A 3v3 Scrimmage setup I use to start sessions and immediately raise intensity You’ll see how both games work on screen and how I use them to get players engaged, competing, and enjoying training together. If you’re a youth or grassroots soccer coach looking to: Increase player engagement Improve team chemistry Get players training on their own Keep practices competitive and enjoyable This video is for you. 🔗 Training Games Used in This Video Smash Ball (Kinoli animation): 👉 https://kinoli.com/a/bsR8B1Ktgxql 3v3 Scrimmage (Kinoli animation): 👉 https://kinoli.com/a/PS3E1XF99xUc Watch the next video on screen to see how I structure full training sessions step by step. — Coach Jesse Chapters 00:00 Why practices stop being fun 00:20 Why fun actually matters for development 00:40 Celebrate every goal 01:25 Pro Jersey Day 02:00 Play with your players 02:40 Smash Ball & unexpected games 03:20 Start with a scrimmage 03:55 Final takeaway Hashtags #soccercoaching #youthsoccer #grassrootssoccer #soccerpractice #soccertraining #coachlife #playerdevelopment #soccercoach #footballcoaching #coachingtips
