The early history of this Mercedes Benz is unknown other than the details recorded in both versions of the original factory “Datenkartes” or Data Cards. In the early 2000s, the famous Mexican restorer, Fernando Gomez Urquiza saw the car listed for sale in New York. He made arrangements to go and see the car and despite needing quite a bit of work, he agreed to the purchase and imported the car to Mexico. During the multi year restoration, the car was purchased by a prominent family in Mexico City and in 2008 upon the completion of the restoration the car was shown at the prestigious 22nd Annual Gran Concurso International de Elegance where it took a slew of awards including: -Best of Show -Top 20 Entrants -Best Entrant from the Club “Asociacion Mexicana del Automovil Antiguo” -Best European Entrant There are numerous trophies that this Mercedes Benz has won as such and detailed photos will be provided but the family will retain the originals as they are personal items. Since the completion of the restoration the car has been well cared for but little used covering just 589 total miles. The museum collection where this vehicle has resided the past sixteen years has a full time staff of 20 dedicated technicians that routinely maintain all of the vehicles in the collection on a rotated basis despite the fact that most have covered little to no mileage under their care. The car mechanically remains fresh and essentially has barely brake-in mileage and cosmetically the interior remains "showroom new” and flawless in all regards. The exterior finish caries to small stress cracks in the rear at both corners but otherwise the cosmetics are issueless. (Photos of these cracks can be seen the photo gallery.) All new tires have just been fitted and they have no driving time since their installation.
