I started noticing a pattern in my climbing. As soon as a move feels hard, awkward, or uncomfortable, my brain jumps in with a reason to quit. Not my style. Bad feet. Not strong enough. Feeling heavy today. The problem is those thoughts usually show up before I actually fail. In this video, I run a simple experiment. I keep the camera rolling, wear a mic, and try changing one thing only: how I talk to myself while I climb. No motivation. No affirmations. Just staying with the climb instead of talking my way out of it. This episode was filmed over two gym sessions, alone and with friends, to see how mindset, environment, and self-talk affect not just performance, but enjoyment. I don’t know if this made me a stronger climber. But it definitely changed how the sessions felt. And that might matter more than I thought. This channel is about outdoor climbing, training, and dumb adventures that don’t always go to plan. I’m 45, trying to get better at climbing without pretending it’s easy, and documenting the process honestly. Some days it’s progress. Some days it’s exposure, fear, or failure. If you like real outdoor experiences, learning through mistakes, and long-form adventure storytelling, you’re in the right place. New episodes follow an ongoing season arc.
