Here's a late victorian pugilism/ boxing, theory, practice, and history video that I've been wanting to make for some time and is the next logical step along our victorian strength and fighting fitness yourney Learning what it was like to learn Edward William Barton-Wrights New Art of Self Defence that was Bartitsu and all the associated strength and physical fitness Training that went with the first mixed martial art of the modern world. All in its original style and concept. It's now time to publish this training aid video to take us from the rigid and heavily stylised stance work, in the first 8 footwork exercises《lesson1》 of the of the pugilisim/boxing/savate element of the old skool Bartitsu Project. In this video we take a deep look into how and why the puglists/boxers of the late victorian age, used boxing footwork and body and hand movement, to evade punches, maximise punching force and speed, move with more rhythm and confuse thier opponant, also why late victorian era pugilism/boxing was and had to be so very different than modern boxing of today. During this old school boxing video we will show you how to start adapting the boxing and savate footwork exercises you have learned, into a much more fluid form that will make you faster, more evasive and harder to hit. During the course of this pugilism video, we will also dispell some myths about this style of boxing, stancevwork and movement, being stiff and clumsy. We will also talk about the transitional nature of late victorian boxing and how it effected the way you fight both in and out of the ring and how this pertains to the use of pugilism /boxing in the overall Bartitsu system. In this indepth look at the realities of late victorian pugilism and boxing training, we also site individuals and sources apon which I have pinned the realities and practicalities of pugilism of this era on. We also discuss how these individuals and their methods and how it influenced the transitioning of puglism into a much more scientific and intelligent art of fighting. To what was becoming the Sweet Science of Boxing. Though in this boxing training video, we deal with pugilism in the period of 1892-1899 and the major players on the Boxing Heavyweight Championship scene. We will, in future videos, expand this, which I believe to be the most important period of pugilistic history and development. In future videos, we will be taking an in-depth look at pugilism and boxing training from 1882-1910. As I feel, this is very important to tovfurther understanding the foundations of Bartitsu and how we use it in its original intended style. While we are understandably dealing with realities of learning to fight in the late victorian era. We must not forget that this is also a journey of physical fitness and strength training too. Also that the Bartitsu Club was also a full equipped physical gymnasium, and members would also, as they do with martial arts clubs today, attend for just the physical fitness training bennifits. Let's also not forget that the late victorian era saw the birth of the a physical fitness craze that took the Western World by storm, giving us many of the strength and fitness workout exercises, bodybuilding, powerlifting and physical fitness Training systems we have today. Boxing training workouts, as attested by many authors of boxing manuals, are a great way to work out for health and fitness. So this should not be overlooked.
