Two-phase immersion cooling (2PIC) is a promising technology that could improve overclocking performance, power, and reliability. This technology has been mainly adopted at scale in bitcoin-mining application with extremely dense ASIC HW. Microsoft has recently announced that it is the first cloud provider to deploy two phase immersion cooling in a cloud production environment using X86 HW. This session will discuss some details of the journey to getting there. The session will also address some of the common specs and requirements that can be streamlined including chip-server-tank-fluid to enable this technology further.
