KEF Robotics: UAS - Agnostic Autonomy Module Problem Statement: KEF Robotics focuses on developing technologies to accelerate the deployment of UAV autonomy for applications in defense and aerospace. Overview: KEF Robotics is working with SOFWERX and Government partners to provide proof of concept autonomy system integrated into Deep Purple, a government furnished equipment (GFE) unmanned aerial system (UAS) and a COTS multirotor UAS. This effort is dual purpose in nature, providing capabilities for a specific GFE platform and enhancing capabilities of a COTS platform that will facilitate Service-specific payload development and evaluation. Technical Approach: • Integrate a computer vision system to navigate 3D surroundings that does not rely on GPS or off-board user control for navigation in flight. • Integrate a system that navigates in real-time without the need for premapping or prior route selection. • Integrate a system that tracks and follows targets through complex environments such as compact urban spaces and forests while avoiding stationary and moving obstacles. • Integrate flight patterns to detect Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) without human input. • Integrate a system that can use the organic Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) camera to identify hazards/obstacles through machine learning.
