What is Neuroticism? | From a (hopefully) NOT Too Neurotic Med Student/Former Pre-Med

This is a part 1 video because I plan to do some subsequent videos sharing my thoughts on the idea of "neurotic premeds." I do think there is a significant prevalence of the personality trait of neuroticism among premeds. However, I do not think that all things that people call "neurotic" should actually be classified as neurotic. I want to be clear that I am not saying that neuroticism is a good thing or a bad thing. I will link to part 2, part 3 etc once I make them. Let me know if you disagree with my definition of neuroticism or have any opinion on neurotic premeds! Additionally, if anyone wants to get offended by me referencing gender differences in neuroticism: I am not saying that any individual is neurotic. However, I believe in practicing evidence based medicine and evidence based opinions. There are good, repeatable data indicating that there are slightly higher scores among females than males in trait neuroticism. It is a horrible interpretation of the data to think you can stereotype any female or any male as having any personality trait. Additionally, it is a horrible interpretation of the data to think someone has a certain personality trait because of their gender. However, these data do have clinical relevance in that women (on a population level) suffer from higher rates of mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression which is highly correlated with women's higher rates of neuroticism (on a population level).
