American Flyer 290 overhaul and refurb Medium

This is an American Flyer 290 Pacific locomotive that I bought from a junk table at a local train show for $20. It was in pretty rough shape mechanically as well as aesthetically. The motor would not turn and the drive rods were badly rusted. The reverse unit was in rough shape as well. All in all the refurb involved a complete strip down and re-paint of the cab and tender bodies, de-greasing and re-lube of the motor and chassis, a complete reverse unit overhaul to include new contact finger installation, new springs and brushes for the motor, a new head light lens and a new smoke stack. It took about two weeks to accomplish from start to finish.
