Dandenong's beloved Dandy Pig was returned to the community on Friday 30 August. The sign takes pride of place and lights up the sky from the Dandenong Market, facing Lonsdale Street. The Dandenong Ham and Bacon Factory sign was originally erected in the 1950s and was one of the first animated advertising signs in the region. It was originally on Lonsdale Street, welcome traffic by 'tipping its top hat' when they crossed Foster Street from Gippsland. It was taken down when the factory closed.
