Any incorrect display of character shadows or throwing projectiles is due to the emulator I use (FinalBurn Neo). NOTE¹: Let me know (in the comments below) if you want to see me beat the game with a different character. The timestamps for each opponent can be found at the bottom of the video description box. – GAME OVERVIEW – World Heroes for the Neo Geo CD is a 2D fighter. The game was ported by ADK (now SNK), and published by ADK in Japan and SNK in North America. It was released in Japan on March 17, 1995, and in North America in October 1996. • World Heroes began as a coin-operated video game for the SNK Neo Geo MVS (Multi Video System). Developed and published by Alpha Denshi – with support from SNK – it was commercially distributed on July 28, 1992. ◦ The game was Alpha Denshi's first foray into the 1990s fighter trend – popularized by Capcom's 1991 hit Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (ストリートファイターII -The World Warrior-) – and is the last title to use the "Alpha" logo in-game before the developer became ADK. ◦ Due to its success, the game spawned a sequel – World Heroes 2 (ワールドヒーローズ2) (1993) – less than a year later. • In World Heroes, Doctor Brown Sugar – a renowned and famous scientist – wants to find out who the greatest warrior in history is. Using a time machine, he brings together some of the world's most powerful historical figures to compete in the "World Heroes" tournament. ◦ The cast includes playable characters based on Hattori Hanzou, Joan of Arc and Grigori Rasputin. • World Heroes has two different game modes: "Normal" and "Death Match". ◦ In "Normal" mode, the player must defeat the seven other characters in random order, as well as a final boss. ◦ In "Death Match" mode, the player fights in a ring with environmental hazards such as electrical barriers, oil puddles and spiked walls.
