Be sure to watch part one first!!    • Six Days In The Sierras, 1 of 2 #back...   Sierra Sojourn, a two part adventure film from one of my favorite backpacking spots in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. On the backside of Yosemite and along the Muir trail, a place I can go with my dog and hike around and make photographs and do some fishing. In the second half of this movie we continue our adventure down along the Muir trail, we stop at several lakes, making photographs and catching some fish before we call it a night at a beautiful camp spot along a creek. The next day we travel to our final lake camp, where we spend two days, swimming, catching trout, exploring the area and making plenty of photographs. We meditate some more on the wisdom we've gathered from Ranger Randy Morgenson, we gather up some trash we find in the backcountry, and we go over the gear we've brought for this backpacking expedition. My name is Brett Walker, I am a California artist and I’ve been making short films and photographs for over 20 years. Formally trained as a photographer, I started making movies in my early 20’s and quickly started exhibiting my work in galleries and at film screenings throughout the United States and abroad. In 2007 I was included in the Detroit International Film Festival. In 2008 I was selected for the 23rd annual New American Talent exhibition at the Jones Center in Austin, Texas. My short film “I Didn’t Want It To Rain” was included in the first ever international art exhibition in Northern Thailand at Look At This Gallery, in Chang Mai as part of their “Superheros/Supervillains exhibition in 2009. “Drinking The Ocean Through A Straw” a short film made in San Francisco was included in a touring exhibition called “The Kids Are Alright” which traveled to the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover, Massachusetts as well as the Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro North Carolina in 2013. I’ve taught filmmaking and photography classes and workshops in universities and museums and other unconventional settings. I’ve worked as a camera person on feature length documentaries, made music videos, and swam from Alcatraz Island to the shores of San Francisco which took me just under an hour and a half to complete. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine and a Master of Fine Arts in Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley. Because I spent so much time going to Art School, I ended up working in the Specialty Coffee Industry for much of my early adult life.
