The music consists in big parts of the band leader’s compositions, which were written only for the purpose to serve the quartet’s concept: jazz with a soul character, melody-based and groove-driven music for body and head. The musicians of the Klaus Graf Quartet are internationally recognized jazz solists and constantly working together with different jazz stars. After a furious premier with outstanding criticisms was the debut album “Changes in Live“ recorded in January 2002. In October 2007, the second album “Moving On“ with arrangements and self-composed songs were produced. The Quartet travelled in India on successful concert tours in 2017 and 2020. The third CD by the Klaus Graf Quartet "Live in India", a live recording of the 2020 India concert tour, was released in March 2021. This includes a suite in 3 movements, the Mysore Suite, dedicated to the city of Mysore in India Karnataka, South India. The musicians of the Klaus Graf Quartet : Klaus Graf – Alto saxophone Klaus Graf has been one of the leading jazz saxophonists in Germany for many years. He studies Jazz at the “Musikhochschule Köln” in Germany and is a member of the legendary 4 times Grammy nominated SWR Radio Big Band in Stuttgart since 1990. For more than 20 years he played with one of the famous Big Bands in Europe, Peter Herbolzheimer Rhythm Combination & Brass. With these bands and in a lot of other different projects he performed with world stars like Al Jarreau, Chaka Khan, Dianne Reeves, Phil Collins, Quincy Jones, Liza Minnelli and many more. Since 2002 he is a Professor for jazz saxophone at the Nuremberg College of Music Thilo Wagner – Piano Thilo Wagner is one of the most important jazz piano players in Germany.His hellishly swinging piano style is one of the best that the German jazz scene has to offer. His breakneck runs with dreamlike "precision landing", his expressive ballad style and his incredible grooving blues lines astonish and inspire the audience wherever he appears. He has toured throughout Europe, Canada, the USA and South America, and participated in more than 70 CDs together with international Jazz artists like Billy Mitchell, Butch Miles, Slide Hampton, Art Farmer, Emil Mangelsdorff, Martin Drew and Danny Moss. Veit Hübner – Bass Veit Hübner is one of the busiest jazz bassists in Germany. He studied classical orchestral music and jazz & popular music at the Universities in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, as well as jazz bass in New York with Marc Johnson and Eddie Gomez. He is a founding member of the music comedy group Tango Five, which played successfully on national and international stages for over 26 years. With “Tales in Tones Trio” he won the renowned Hennessy Jazz Search in 1999, he received scholarships from the DAAD and the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation and in 2003 the Baden- Württemberg jazz prize. Dominik Raab - Drums Raab studied jazz drums at the Würzburg University of Music and completed a master’s degree in 2012 at the Nuremberg University of Music. He was a member of the Hesse State Youth Jazz Orchestra and directs his own quartet. He has been living and working in Cologne since 2016 and is an active part of the European jazz scene. Raab received awards at several competitions, such as the Sparda Jazz Award and the Bruno Rother competition in 2013 and 2014. Dominik Raab has played in concerts, studio and radio productions with musicians such as Don Braden, James Morrison, Jim McNeely, Bruce Forman, Tony Lakatos, Scott Robinson, Norma Winstone, Gerard Presencer, Loren Stillman, Ralph Moore, and many more.
