Johnny Mathis - Misty (November 18, 2023 - Smith Center, Las Vegas, NV)

"Misty" is arguably one of Johnny Mathis' signature tune, so the song needs no introduction. But I wasn't fully versed of the historical aspect of this song that I always attributed to Mr Mathis. First I was surprised that it wasn't Mr. Mathis version that garnered the song a Grammy award; amazingly, it was Ray Steven. His 1975 interpretation of the classic took home the award for Music Arrangement of the Year. Another surprise for me was that it wasn't Johnny Mathis version of "Misty" that was played by Clint Eastwood's DJ character in the movie, "Play Misty For Me." It was the original Instrumental version of Misty by the Erroll Garner Trio. I need to really watch the movie. LOL. But one thing I do know Johnny's version is a classic and my favorite.
