This sunny afternoon walk is around a lovely area on the Great Orme and through the beautiful Haulfre Gardens in Llandudno, North Wales. The Great Orme is a large headland that towers over the coastal town of Llandudno below. Many homes, businesses, parks and gardens are built into this impressive rock. Our walk begins up on the Great Orme and slowly descends through the winding residential roads with stunning views over the town and bay below. The Great Orme Tramway, opened in 1902, takes passengers up to the summit and is Britain's only cabled hauled tramway that operates on public roads. We begin to climb back up the side of the Great Orme to the beautiful Haulfre Gardens area. Henry Davis Pochin was an English industrial chemist and local government official who retired to North Wales with his wife and bought an 1860's villa called Haulfre on a steep piece of land on the south facing side of the Great Orme. He spent 5 years here transforming the plot into a terraced garden. The gardens were obtained for the town of Llandudno in 1929, and were officially opened to the public. The Victorian villa once owned by Mr Pochin and his wife is now Haulfre Tea Rooms. This terrace area has the most beautiful, stunning views down to Llandudno town and out across the bay. The statues of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum form part of the Alice In Wonderland trail that Llandudno has after its connection to the English author Lewis Carroll who used to visit the Liddell family and their daughter Alice, the inspiration for the book. We finish our walk at the far end of the gardens overlooking the beautiful Penmorfa West Shore. If you enjoyed our video please give us a like and hit the subscribe button.
