As markets continue to suffer due to coronavirus, a recent “squabble” between Russian and Saudi Arabia over oil could “rattle a lot of financial institutions” and send Australia into a recession says Sky News contributor Peter Switzer. Comparing the current market shortfalls to the Global Financial Crisis, Mr Switzer said both the coronavirus and the “oil price problem” could be a “much shorter term” economic issue. Mr Switzer said the March quarter will “be negative for sure,” while the June quarter was “always 50-50”. He told Sky News host Peta Credlin after this recent oil furore the June quarter “may well be a very good chance to be negative again and that would be a recession”. “We’re a chance for a recession”.
