This winter a small muskrat shows signs of being snared along the rivers edge. The presence of bailing wire and snares to trap animals in the city parks along the Humber river in Etobicoke and Toronto is a worrying development. Over the years there has been increasing poaching in the parks along with the destruction of plants, trees and animal habitat. It takes great vigilance for the public to stop the destruction of the commons. As a photographer and filmmaker I've been documenting wildlife along the Humber river for many years. Together our collective goal is to help preserve these natural areas. Toronto is unique to have been blessed with this natural paradise within the city. Our effort is to keep these areas as pristine as possible for all to enjoy. This nature sanctuary was created after the great Hurricane Hazel devastated our city on October 15th 1954. As a result of the devastation, the city declared vast swathes of these ravines to be protected from all development. ► To support this channel my documentary 'Annigoni: Portrait of an Artist' is available at: http://www.mycompass.ca Thanks! http://www.mycompass.ca mycompasstv ~ travel + arts + lifestyle
