In a video that went viral on social media, ally Nitish Kumar stayed silent while the audience as well as those seated on the stage joined Mr Modi while he chanted 'vande mataram' during a rally in Darbhanga in Bihar. Days later, a joint rally with Nitish Kumar held at Muzaffarpur in Bihar witnessed a far more subtle version of the 'Bharat mata ki jai' sign off by PM Modi. Ravish Kumar asks whether the BJP's ideologies of patriotism and compulsory sloganeering are limited to where the party contests alone.
