Gymnopédie No. 1 has always been echoing in the background during my childhood, so it was wonderful performing it again and I hope you enjoyed this more unusal version without piano. This gymnopédie is a composition that everyone unanimously agrees on that one has heard at least onec. But did you know that Satie actually wrote three gymnopedies? Only the first one made it to this level of fame unfortunatley. Later in Saties career Debussy also started gain fame which also begun to overshadow Satie in a way. This 6 cellos version was trickier to create than I imagined. To achieve the right ambience is vital for the composition and I hope Erik Satie would not mind to much that it was performed like this.
