Currently redoing some of my Toaplan clears since I never recorded some of them (not even a .inp). I already 1cc'd Batsugun original some time ago, without recording, and it always bugged me that I didn't have a video for it. Instead of simply doing another Original clear I decided to just play the special version, since doing a 4-ALL is considered harder. I also ended up enjoying this version more than Original. For those unfamiliar with Batsugun Special, it's a version of Batsugun that reduces your hitbox, makes your bomb stronger, gives you a shield instead of a bomb when you fill your xp bar (and both shield + bomb if you fill it while already at level 3), but contains 4 loops while the original doesn't loop. Rank is also lowered early on, making the first loop much easier but subsequent loops a completely different experience. While clearing only 1 loop of Special is much easier than clearing Original, doing 4 loops is considered harder. Subsequent loops introduce revenge bullets, however they also get rid of the early stages: you start the second loop in the second stage, the third loop in the third stage, and the fourth loop in the fourth stage. Some scoring stuff also changes. There are some hidden pigs you can reveal by pressing a combination of buttons while destroying something. Depending on their color, they can give points (for peach pigs) or fill your xp bar (for lavender pigs) when you stay near them, the bar filling up more quickly with each loop. If you fill your xp bar while already being level 3, you gain a bomb, which makes it interesting to find those pigs as you can potentially get a ton of bombs. These are the locations of the hidden pigs. For survival, lavender pigs are the most important since you'll get a shield and tons of bombs: Stage 2: Hold down+right when destroying the turret on the island, where the plane will take off. You get a lavender pig for doing so. Stage 3: When you destroy the central battery on the main land, hold down. Many peach pigs will appear, and there will be a lavender pig near the waterfall. Stage 5: At the very beginning, hold down+left when you destroy the hangar on the left with tanks in it. You get two lavender pigs. Stage 5 (again): down+left after the part with all the round tanks near the end. That's the theory, in reality I don't really understand how that one works, sometimes they don't appear. I don't think too much about it because you can't even milk those pigs a lot. These locations work the same in Batsugun Original, but lavender pigs aren't a thing there and you only get peach pigs. Lavender pigs don't bring that much xp in Loop 1, but starting from the second loop they will give you a ton of it and getting a lavender pig pretty much means a full bomb refill. In stage 3, you should be able to make enough bombs appear to murder the boss by just bombspamming it and grabbing your bombs once you're done with it. The fact that you're skipping some stages in later loops is actually detrimental to survival, since stages 2 and 3 aren't too hard and give you lavender pigs which you would really like to milk for bombs. In the third loop it's not too bad since you still get Stage 3 which is enough for a bomb refill, but in the final loop you're on your own and will probably enter Stage 4 low on ressources. You get one score extend at 1 million point, and then one extend each time you clear one loop, so that's 4 extends to work with for a full 4-ALL. Sounds a bit low for such a long clear but you get a ton of shields and bombs (especially if you reveal the pigs) so it's actually alright. Regarding revenge bullets, they're kinda weird. They are first introduced in loop 2 where they're manageable, then the loop 3 revenge bullets are pretty hard, very numerous and big. Then loop 4 revenge bullets are kinda easier in a way: they start big but get smaller after one second or so and there are less than in loop 3, which makes them scary at first but not that hard. However they take a lot of time to actually start moving, which means streaming in order to misdirect the revenge bullets will be less efficient in the final loop. So if you want a 4-ALL, I would recommend spending your time practicing loops 3 and 4, and not much the first two loops (except for the first stage in loop 2 since it doesn't exist elsewhere, and you might want to check if you can do it easily). One advice I would give is to check your xp bar frequently: if you have a shield and are close to filling your xp bar, you can afford to take a lot of risks and not bombing (unless you're really cornered). Then if you're hit, it doesn't matter since you'll get the shield back shortly, and you might save some bombs doing so. Speaking of bombs, you really get a ton of them, don't be afraid to spam them in stages 4 and 5 in the higher loops. 00:00 Loop 1 16:13 Loop 2 30:07 Loop 3 42:15 Loop 4 52:21 Ending
