Found these old pictures and songs from Kansas City, Missouri's early '70's R&B Showband "Joint Session". The members varied throughout the late 60's then it transitioned to "Intersanction Fantasy" in the mid 70's moved to Phoenix then the bay area until it finally disbanded in 1980 in California. The "Joint Session" early members included: Albert "Bert" Williamson, Freddie "Skeebo" Washington, Ronald "Ham" Hamilton, Jewel Nixon, Ronnie Petite, Ronald Pulliam, Urail Williams JR., Ross Melton, Gregory "Shugg" Berry, Lester Washington, Gail Madden and vocalist Denise "Brandi" Turner. Bert told me they went to Arkansas (some small town studio) and was given some country tunes which they rearranged. Then the final song was a Bloodstone hit. I didn't have many images but worked with what I had. Hope you enjoy. I always try to share our history here in KC. Les Washington: A little more history. The group started as the Royals in 67/68 . Band members were CJ was on drums, he was the leader. Ham on bass,Jewel on guitar 🎸,Bert,Ross,Donald Stuart ,were horns. Sam Merell also played drums for a brief stint. In 1969 that group became “Fabulous techniques of Soul” it also included Thelmon Murphy, flutist for a brief period. That group was later renamed “Joint Session”.
