ANXIETY: THE THIEF OF TODAY - Patrick Boamah (05/03/26)

Anxiety: The Thief of Today (Matthew 6:34) Lesson 4 Many people live in fear of tomorrow. They worry about money. They worry about health. They worry about the future. Anxiety steals peace. Anxiety weakens faith. A Christian must not allow anxiety to rule the heart. Jesus spoke these words while teaching His disciples. He was teaching them to trust God as Father. He warned them about worrying over daily needs. From Matthew 6:34 (ESV): “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Jesus teaches us to focus on today. Each day has its own trouble. Worrying about tomorrow does not solve problems. It only adds more fear. Anxiety does not change the future. It only disturbs the present. A Christian should not live in constant fear of money or work. A Christian should not lose sleep because of tomorrow. Anxiety shows a lack of trust in God’s care and provision. What should we do? We must trust God daily. We must pray about our needs. We must work faithfully. We must plan wisely but not panic. We must remember that God feeds the birds and clothes the grass. He will not forget His children. When we practice this, our minds become calm. Our hearts become steady. We enjoy today. We become thankful. We sleep in peace. Letting go of anxiety is mastering the mind. When worry no longer rules us, our emotions are under Christ. That is true mastery of emotions.
