If you are interested in more content from me, my photography can be viewed on Instagram at: / rail_spike_productions About this video: This is some of the footage not featured in my last video, also showing the MBTA’s operation of a continuous welded rail train on the Dorchester Branch (Fairmount Line) on April 26, 2025. These clips focus more on the actual rail-unloading process performed by this train. Each strand of rail spans the full length of the train and is dropped by being secured to the ground as the train is slowly moved out from under it. Two rails are able to be dropped at a time with this process, with one going on each side. Leased PNLX MP20GP-3 2107 led this train with MBTA GP40MC-3 1138 trailing. Clips in this video were filmed at the following stations (listed in the order they appear): Newmarket, Uphams Corner, and Four Corners/Geneva.
