Toe to Toe with Goliath Kahuku travels across the Pacific Ocean to take on one of the Nations best in Mater Dei. It was a matchup that didn’t disappoint and could’ve went the underdogs way. Just coming off a shut out loss against Bishop Gorman last week, the odds were stacked against the Red Raiders. It would be the Monarchs striking first 2 minutes into the game to take a 8-0 lead made by WR Gavin Honoree. It would be the grittiness of Kahuku that would lead them down the field and get one right before the half. Senior QB, Troy Mariteragi, would hit Senior TE, Rhino Aumua, to cut the score to down to one. Kahuku would mount one last run which ended up with another touchdown and a successful 2 point conversion. It would be another close games for the Monarchs as they walk away with the win, but Kahuku would walk away with confidence heading into the game next week against Kapolei. The Monarchs will go on the road to play Corona Centennial before heading to Las Vegas and play against Bishop Gorman.
