It's your good buddy, Uncle Ben, here with a brand new lesson here on Weekend Wankshop! I've been on a HUGE Van Halen kick here recently. I just can't get my fill! I saw a video the other day on Rick Beato's channel about what makes van halen's jump such a great song... in this video, Rick went into his usual incredible amount of detail about the instrumentation and synth chord voicing of the classic 1984 track, and it got my brain gears a'turning... what if Jump had been written on guitar instead of keyboards?! In this lesson, you're gonna find out! In this video, i'm going to be showing you exactly how to play the iconic keyboard kids on a drop C tuned guitar. First i'll give you some tone tips (including a quick demo of the FABULOUS MXR/EVH chorus pedal i just got, plus the Top Jimi Brown Sound Kemper profiles i'm using), then we will get into the details about how to play this beast. It sounds so cool! Maybe one day i'll do a complete cover of this song sans synth. Good idea? Thanks for watching! Using my modified custom Ibanez RG520, Dunlop 10-46 strings, Kemper Profiler, and MXR/EVH chorus. Dimarzio EVO/Gravity Storm pickups. What other classic synth parts would sound cool on guitar?! Let me know in the comments!
