Introduction - episode 1 - Understanding Finance in Sports

Hello everyone, This is an introductory episode to my new series on understanding sports finances. In this episode I will set the scene for the topics that will be covered in the future. Sports has a huge worldwide following, is a pretty unique industry and its underlying economics and finances make for interesting review and analysis. The sports organizations that I will be covering have their own unique financial characteristics, which are quite different from most day to day businesses, in that the products that they are selling are sports matches and sports events as opposed to goods and services. And along with regular episodes, from time to time I will put in informal snippets to explain certain points that require a little more detail.
