When it comes to subtractive color mixing, many people focus on questions like, "which colors are primary?" But it's more important, in my opinion, to understand the patterns of "mixing paths," or the way paints or inks will tend to lose or retain chroma in mixture. This video briefly discusses how the mixing paths of pigments close in hue to CMY bend "out," the paths of pigments near RGB bend "in," and the paths of intermediate hues are well, weird. The folding paper ring, called a hexaflexagon, creates the illusion of the paper having three sides. You can print your own copy -- find it in the "handouts" folder on my linktree.
