Already in February, the nights get shorter everyday. By the end of March, there are only a few hours of twilight, and complete nighttime is already gone in the northernmost landscapes. That's when the northern light colors get heavily influenced by the twilight and the moonlight, and turn a beautiful magenta, purple or blue! I gathered 2.5 months worth of timelapse that I took this Spring throughout my peregrinations in Finland, Sweden and Norway. I sometimes drove 1000km a night to get to the best area for auroras, especially during the bigger geomagnetic storms. So, lots of time, energy and resources went into these and I truly hope you appreciate the effort to bring them to you! All was shot with the Sony a7sIII and the Canon 6D astromodified and a variety of bright lenses ranging from 14mm to 35mm. For motion control I used the Syrp 3-axis Genie I system and also the Vixen Polarie. All post production was made in Lr with the special timelapse plus plugin, Sequence for mac, TLDF, and final production was made in FCPX.
