The mouth has always been home to a number of rather common and surprisingly varied premalignancies and precancerous conditions. Yet, for more than a century the dental profession ignored them, refusing to accept the responsibility of detection and management. All that has changed dramatically half a century ago and this webinar offers a clinically relevant, historical perspective of that change from an Oral Pathologist who participated in, and contributed to, its evolution. He will review our current understanding of the biological behavior of oral precancers and the practical approaches available for early detection, risk assessment, and differential diagnosis. Objectives: Upon completion of this presentation, participants will understand the following: • Be able to describe clinical features and management options for oral precancers • Be able to describe prognostic features of oral precancers • Be able to compare look-alike lesions with oral precancers 0:00 Starting soon video 5:25 greetings and Introduction 13:08 Lecture- introduction 18:05 Oral Precancer- why is Bouquot interested? 21:40 Prevalence of leukoplakia 27:15 The many faces of oral Precancer(OPMDs) 36:15 Risk/ frequency 41:39 the causes 45:08 Leukoplakia that went away and those that were added 46:55 Significance of color change 49:35 oral precancers- the white ones 52:10 Oral Precancers the 20th century 1:05:54 Oral precancers- the red ones 1:06:45 leukoplakia the risk of cancer 1:08:40 Leukoplakia the correlation of clinical and histopathologic features 1:11:42 poorly understood leukoplakia/Atypical papillary epithelial hyperplasia 1:13: 38 Leukoplakia with SCC 1:15:11 Can technology find dysplasia 1:23:40 Expert views and Q & A About Dr. J.
